Commuter benefit orders and changes can be managed in your account.

There are a number of options you may have available in order to easily make and revise Commuter transit or parking orders for your commute.

Read on to find out specifics on Commuter account use, or jump to a section with these links:

How do I cancel one of my Commuter orders?

1. From the dashboard, select the Transit or Parking tab.

2. Select the specific order you want to cancel in the Recent Activity section and click Edit. Click on the Transit order you need to cancel.

3. To cancel all future orders, you will need to go to the bottom of the screen and click Cancel This Order. Whether you have selected One Month Only, Manage Calendar or Every Month, when you click Cancel This Order, all future orders will be cancelled.

4. Remember that the deadline for your order determines when your change will take effect.

Please note the purple/white calendar icon near the bottom of the Confirm Order page. This will indicate the first benefit month your order will be effective. Underneath your contact information, you'll see the deadline to change or cancel your order. There are no exceptions to this deadline.

How do I make changes to a current Commuter order?

1. From the dashboard, select the Transit or Parking tab.

2. Select the specific order you want to change/ cancel in the Recent Activity section. Click on the order you want to edit in the Current Orders section.

3. Follow the instructions on each page. If you want to cancel only one month or a few months, click on Manage Calendar and then select the Next button to pick the months you want to cancel. You will need to put a zero (0) on the month(s) you do not want the order for and complete the submission.

4. Remember that the deadline for your order determines when your change will take effect.

How do I add funds to my Commuter account?

Depending on your employer’s Commuter plan, you can make payroll deductions elections to fund an account and use those funds to either:

1) Automatically fund a debit card that can be used to make transit or parking purchases at eligible locations or

2) Use the funds in your account to pay for transit passes or parking purchases directly on the member website. You may supplement the funds in your account with funds from a personal credit card or debit card.

Can I get a refund if I don't use the Commuter pass I ordered?

You cannot be refunded for a purchased pass. Generally, IRS regulations prohibit the refund of pretax funds. If you do not need the pass you received, notify Member Services immediately. They will provide you with options specific to your pass. In some cases, you may be able to return the pass and receive a credit to be used towards a future commuter election.

How do I make an address change?

  • Log into your online account.

  • In the top right corner of the screen, select your name or initials icon.

  • Click on the Profile link under the account for which you want to update your profile.

  • A pop-up box will appear and you’ll be able to select which account you would like to update.

  • Enter in the address change. Select Save.

Who can use my Commuter benefits?

Commuter benefit funds are for your commuting expenses only. They can't be used to cover the expenses of your spouse, partner, dependent child or any other person.

Can I use the HealthEquity Commuter Card for multiple operators/transit agencies?

You can use your Commuter Card for multiple operators/transit agencies.

You can verity if a specific operator accepts the commuter card by completing the following:

1. From your dashboard, select the Transit or Parking tab.

  • For Transit, select Place Transit Order or Place Vanpool Order.

  • For Parking, select Place Parking Order or Place Park & Ride Order.

2. Click Next to open the select an Operator page.

3. Enter your ZIP Code to see the available options for transit.

4. Select the operator/transit agency you want to use.

5. Select the Commuter Card as your product for that pass.

6. Scroll down and click on the Where can you use commuter card link at the bottom of the screen.

7. When the pop-up page appears, check to see if your additional operator/transit agency is listed to use with your Commuter Card.

Note: You do not need to complete this order if you already have a card; you can use your current card for the operator/transit agencies that you verified.

How do vanpools work?

Vanpools may be operated by employees, employers, or by private or public transit companies. Vanpools must at least maintain that 80% of the mileage, and 50% of the seating capacity are used for the primary purpose of transporting employees from their residences to their place of employment. Personal use mileage may be established by individual vanpool programs but the vehicle must maintain at least 80% primary use for transporting employees. Vanpool programs may vary.


Riders may meet at a designated pick-up location such as a Park & Ride lot. Some vanpools may have more than one pick-up point. The same applies to drop-off points at the destination.

Is my vanpool covered?

Your expenses (up to the monthly transit limit) are covered if the vehicle used in the vanpool has seating capacity of at least six adults, not including the driver. In addition, at least 80% of the mileage use of the vehicle and at least 50% of the seating capacity must be for transporting employees back and forth between home and work.

Can I use my Commuter benefits for bike sharing?

Unfortunately, bicycle sharing or bicycle rental programs are not eligible transit or transportation benefits. For example, Citibike in New York City is not an eligible transit expense.

How do I find available Transit options?

It’s easy to find a transit agency in your area. Log in to your online account and select Transit. Select Place Transit Order, then enter your zip code to review your options, like OMNY (the contactless payment system implemented in New York City), Clipper (the reloadable contactless smartcard for the San Francisco Bay Area), Smartrip (the contactless payment system run by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority), ORCA (the transit card used for Seattle area public transportation), SEPTA (Southeast Pennsylvania Transportation Authority), BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), Amtrak trains, and other local bus, ferry, light rail, and subway systems.
